What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is an effective orthodontic treatment that will straighten your teeth without the use of traditional metal braces. It uses a series of clear plastic aligners to gradually shift your teeth into their desired position. The clear aligners will be virtually invisible to others, helping you avoid the unsightliness of metal braces.
What issues will Invisalign correct?
Invisalign is effective at addressing a variety of mild to moderate alignment issues including:
- Unevenly spaced teeth
- Crowded teeth
- Overbites
- Underbites
- Crossbites
How does Invisalign work?
Hoboken cosmetic dentist Dr. Frank DePaola will use 3D imaging technology to create a digital impression of your teeth. This impression we be used in the creation of your customized Invisalign aligners. You will wear each aligner in the series for about two weeks before moving onto the next one. Each aligner will gradually straighten your teeth until your treatment is complete and your teeth have shifted to their desired position.

How often must I wear the aligners?
For maximum effectiveness, you should wear the aligners for about 20-22 hours a day. You can remove them to eat and to brush your teeth, but it is important to wear them at all other times.
How long does the straightening process take?
Every patient’s treatment time varies based on their unique orthodontic issues. Most patients complete their treatment in 9-18 months, and the average treatment time is less than one year.
Are the aligners painful?
No. In fact, one of the main benefits of Invisalign is that the aligners are significantly more comfortable than traditional braces. The plastic aligners are customized to fit the contours of your mouth, and the smooth edges eliminate the irritation typically caused by metal brackets and wires used with braces.
