Dental implants are secured directly into your jawbone to provide a strong foundation for your tooth restorations. Because they are accepted by your jaw as a new tooth root, dental implants are firmly held in place and, barring trauma or progressive gum disease, should last for a lifetime.
During your implant dentistry consultation with Dr. Frank DePaola, we can discuss the dental implant procedure in greater detail and help you determine if they are the best solution for your needs.
Caring for Implants
While your implant is healing you will need to take care to keep the implant location clean. Dr. DePaola will provide you with information on caring for your implant during this part of the process. After your implant has been accepted into your jawbone it will be covered with a dental crown, which will need to be cared for in the same manner as your natural teeth.
Brushing after every meal and snack, flossing at least once a day, and visiting our office for biannual cleanings and examinations should be sufficient to keep your implant healthy, allowing it to provide a lifetime of function and beauty to your smile.
