The prevention of oral health issues is the primary focus of both general and family dentistry. With proper at-home care and regularly scheduled visits to our Hoboken office, most dental health issues can be completely avoided. During your visits, we would be happy to discuss preventative dentistry and the most effective ways to maintain a healthy and happy smile well into the future.
At-Home
Prevention starts at home with a consistent dental hygiene routine. This should include brushing after every meal and snack and flossing at least once a day. Make sure you are using a soft bristled toothbrush to prevent removing enamel. Also be sure to use a toothpaste with fluoride to help prevent decay and strengthen the teeth.
Checkups
Every six months you should come to our office for cleanings and examinations. These visits give us an opportunity to thoroughly clean your teeth and to check for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues. While preventative measures such as daily care are essential for helping avoid problems, should problem occur, early detection is key to preventing issues such as tooth loss.
